The central region of Namibia is the hub of the country, with Windhoek, the country’s vibrant capital at its heart.
Windhoek embodies the electric nature of the country. Mixed amongst the high-rise buildings of the city’s financial district are quaint examples of German colonial architecture and markets selling traditional African woodcarvings. The sounds in the streets are a mixture of voices from all over Europe and Africa, with a sprinkling of the Americas and Asia adding to Windhoek’s rich, international flavour.
Beauty is also found in other towns of the central region in Namibia. Okahandja is known for its markets where Namibian artist-entrepreneurs express themselves through woodcarvings of wildlife, including giraffe that tower over many tourists.
Travelling south-west from Windhoek, several dramatic and scenic drives link the central region to the coast. The longest, highest and most popular route is the Gamsberg Pass, running down the escarpment and through the Namib Desert.
Namibia’s central region offers the adventurous traveller much to discover and explore. Accommodation includes 5 star hotels and lodges plus the homely bed & breakfast guesthouses and wildlife lodges, where any tourist will receive the traditional warm Namibian hospitality.
Namibian accommodations offering genuine, warm & friendly hospitality and the prices noted below are varied. Some are “fully inclusive” of accommodation, meals & activities, others are Dinner, Bed & Breakfast (DBB), some are Bed & Breakfast only (B&B) and a few are room only. Where there are two prices listed, these could be from the Low season up the Peak season. It becomes unfair to compare one establishments price with another until you know what the price includes, so please do ask us.
REMEMBER, we do NOT mark up the public prices of the establishments. The public prices all include a small commission, which pays our salaries and the cost of this website – thank you for supporting us.
SOUTH AFRICAN residents, please take note of the following. 98% of my clients are from overseas, and the vast majority of them that enquire initially with me, appreciate the time and dedication I give to their holiday planning and they book with me. I run a business, and not a free tourist information service. Please, only ask me to assist you, if you are serious about booking your safari or accommodation through me.
I have found the majority of the South Africans, think that I must give them an itinerary, names and details of recommended accommodations and then they have no need to contact me again – and they go an book everything themselves, thinking they are saving money. This is a false misconception. I charge all tourists the public rates, and if the entire itinerary is booked through me, then I can afford to give a discount, if I like the client – discounts are earned, not given!! It is extremely frustrating to spend hours of my valuable time and then get absolutely nothing, not even a thanks nor apology and I am now insisting that SA residents pay a deposit before I continue with their enquiry.
ONLY if you are serious in booking through me, complete our enquiry form please.
Prices are a Guideline only and are Per Person sharing. Single supplements apply at the majority of establishments. Children, normally under 12, get reduced rates.
Note: we do NOT book camping nor self-catering establishments. People wanting camp site locations, go to www.google.co.za and type in the following words: camp sites in NAMIBIA . Please, do NOT ask me, I have no idea where any are!
For ALL bookings, I have the right before I contact any lodges or proceed with your enquiry, to ask for a R200 deposit. This deposit shall be deducted off your booking total, if you conclude a booking with us, as part of the prepayment. If you cancel, change your mind, make other arrangements – i.e. do not conclude a booking, that is my service fee then and you forfeit the R200. No exceptions!!
