Desert Lodge - Chalets |
Fish River Canyon - Grunau |
2010 - N$895 pppn 2011 - N$950 pppn
|
The harsh rocky desert region at the southern tip of Namibia has made travellers think that God has forgotten this land. Not so! Just 20 kilometres from the main viewpoint of the Fish River Canyon National Park, you'll find The Canon Lodge, an oasis seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Spaced evenly amongst granite boulders are thatched en suite bungalows, built out of natural rock. The boulders, cool to the touch and smoothly rounded by an eternity of erosion, protrude into the rooms to make them blend in with the natural surroundings.
An old farmhouse, originally built in 1908, has been restored to serve as the lodge restaurant. Its main attraction is an awe-inspiring view of the canyon landscape, which makes a meal at the restaurant an experience not to be missed. Decorated with farming implements dating back to the previous century, and combined with the lively chatter of guests and staff alike, success is evident in the atmosphere that seems to linger amongst our visitors who enjoy our warm hospitality and traditional Namibian food.(GondC)
